in 1985, Nashville Bluegrass Band is one of the most predominant,
critically acclaimed bands in bluegrass music, with Grammy nominations for
their last five recordings; two Best Bluegrass Album Grammys for Unleashed
and Waitin’ For The Hard Times To Go; and numerous International
Bluegrass Music Association awards for Best Vocal Group and Entertainer Of
The Year. In addition, NBB
members were an integral part of the incredibly successful soundtracks for
the blockbuster movies O Brother Where Art Thou? and Cold Mountain, and the band toured extensively in
the high-profile Down From The Mountain and Great High Mountain tours
associated with the music from those films. Reinvigorated
by the return of original NBB mandolinist Mike Compton, and the addition
of studio ace Dennis Crouch as bassist, Nashville Bluegrass Band
celebrates twenty years in the music business with the new Sugar Hill
release, Twenty Year Blues.
The band’s unique group sound is achieved by A-list Nashville
session musicians Alan O’Bryant (banjo and vocals); Pat Enright (guitar
and vocals); Mike Compton (mandolin and vocals); Stuart Duncan (fiddle and
vocals); and Dennis Crouch (double bass and vocals). Nashville
Bluegrass Band’s eagerly-awaited tenth release arrives after a six-year
studio hiatus and features NBB’s characteristic brilliant
instrumentation and peerless vocals with their patented blueprint for
top-notch bluegrass. The incredible song selection on Twenty Year Blues
encompasses both classic and contemporary bluegrass, a capella black
gospel, and modern standards with beautiful harmonies and soulful playing. -For
